Magnesium

Magnesium (mineraal)

Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in hundreds of processes in the body, including muscle and nervous system function. Many people get enough through their diet; a supplement is primarily intended to supplement intake.

Common uses

  • Supplementing in case of a (possible) deficiency
  • Often used for stress, muscle cramps, and poor sleep

Dosage & use

Follow the packaging instructions (often 200–400 mg per day). Build up gradually; too much can cause loose stools. Forms such as citrate or glycinate are well absorbed.

Cautions

Caution is advised in case of impaired kidney function — consult your doctor in this case. May affect the absorption of certain medications.
